PWM for HO cars:

Since racing with the HO gents I will be working with Dean Walpole to develop a special controller for the HO scale cars. The principle change will be in the braking circuits since the rest of PWM controller is adjustable to accommodate the HO already. It is expected that modifications could be made to the existing controllers to allow the operation mode of the brakes to be changed via a switch. Once ready news will be posted here.

PWM-B.3

2008/04/23

The PWM-B.3 is now ready to be made to order. (They are still being hand made at this stage, so mass production stock is not yet available)

After final tests of the new circuits at the last slot.it challenge round at NSSRC - North Staffordshire. the sensitivity adjustments have been made more comprehensive with the inclusion of two small rotary encoders. The upgrade board which is mounted on the controller itself is available at £20.00.

Upgrade controller sensing board PWM-B.5 wiring information.

New features:

  1. 10 stage Curve control to set the element feel after the SENSITIVITY on the box has been set. This moves the shape of the throttle response from linear at setting '0' to logarithmic at setting '9'
  2. 10 stage top-end sensitivity control. This changes the top speed step from the last wiper segment to the final end switch to give far greater control for those difficult tracks, and particularly those with high level power supplies. It's a little like the SPEED control and BOOST button, but you don't have to press a button. 0 = minimum end sensitivity and 9 = max end sensitivity.
  3. Fast acting short circuit protection to help prevent the drive Mosfets being damaged with screws in the track, shorting motor braids, or failed motors.

PWM-C

  1. Version C has more changes to the BRAKE circuit, the Acceleration circuit, and an adjustable automatically applied BOOST to bypass the SPEED settings.
  2. A new and robust very high current board is to be added to maximise the output for 1/24th scale racing.
  3. A 0.5 millisecond short circuit scan system is included so the drive stage should be almost indestructible.
  4. The new sensitivity/Curve control board developed for the PWM-B.3 will be included.

The designs for this unit are ready to go for Prototype production, so news will appear soon about results of testing and future availability.

A new PWM product is under development to provide an inexpensive simpler version of the popular PWM-B.2

This will initially be housed in the Red Fox casing as with SLOT.E and SLOT.A

Intended features:

  • Adjustable Brakes
  • Adjustable Sensitivity
  • Self contained with no additional box, and control knobs mounted on the handle top.
  • Rotary potentiometer controls for precision setting of parameters.
  • Intended price £60.00
